Over eighteen years ago, our two founding
members, Peggy Floyd and Mary Morgan, did something powerful.
They
recruited
eleven local business women and established WBSN. Their
goal was to create a networking system of support for
business women. Success through support became the WBSN
philosophy. We are celebrating some wonderful years
of growth as an exciting haven for women through education,
encouragement
and lasting friendships.
In 1989, it was decided that WBSN's activities
should extend into the community. To facilitate that,
the WBSN
Foundation was created to provide scholarships for
women who were returning to school after being in the
work
force. To date, we have given over scholarships totaling
more than $125,000. As you can imagine, one of our
greatest rewards is getting to know these remarkable
women as
we assist them in achieving their goals.
The Women's Business Support Network will continue to
generate business referrals, enhance our members' business
skills and provide support for women in business. Already,
over 200 of Houston's most dynamic women have been members
of WBSN.
